You will need:
Small amounts of yarn:
black, white and orange
fiberfill
black ribbon
crochet hook
tapestry needle
Body (with black):
1.   Ch 1, 6 sc in ring (6 sc)
2.   2 sc in each st (12 sc)
3.   2 sc in every 2nd st (18 sc) 
4.   2sc  in every 3th st (24 sc)
5.   24 sc
6.   24 sc
7.   24 sc
8.   24 sc
9.   Sc every 5th and 6th st together (=20 sc)
10. 20 sc
11. 20 sc
12. 20 sc
13. 20 sc
14. Sc every 4th and 5th st together (16 sc)
15. Sc every 3th and 4th st together (12 sc)
Stuff the body.
16. Sc every 2nd and 3th st together (8 sc)
17. Sc every 1st and 2nd together (4 sc)
Fasten off. Thread the yarn tail onto a tapestry needle, close the hole by inserting the needle through the front loop of each stich around the opening. Pull the tail to close the hole. Weave in the end.

Belly (with white):
1. Ch 1, 6 sc in ring (6 sc)
2. 2 times: 2 sc  in the next st, 2 sc, 2 times: 2 sc in the next st (10 sc)
3. 2 sc, 2 times: 2 sc in the next st,  3 sc, 2 times: 2 sc in the next st, 1 sc (14 sc)
4. 2 sc, 4 times: 2 sc in the next st, 3 sc, 4 times: 2 sc in the next st, 1 sc (22 sc)
1 sl, fasten off. Sew the belly onto the body.

Wings (make 2, with black):
Ch 5
1. 4 sc
2. ch 1, 1 sc in the 2nd st, 2 sc (3 sc)
3. ch 1, 1 sc in the 2nd st, 1 sc (2 sc)
4. ch 1, 1 sc in the 2nd st
Fasten off. Sew the wings to the body.
 
Pecker (with orange):
Ch 4
1. 3 sc
2. ch 1, 1 sc in the 2nd st.
Fasten off and sew the pecker to the body.

Eyes (make two, with white):
1. Ch1, 4 sc in ring.
Fasten off. Sew the eyes to the body, right above the pecker.
Make 1 black stitch on each eye.

Pull a ribbon through the stitches on the top and sew the ends together.
